Make a Referral
If you would like to refer someone you know for our services, please fill in the referral form below.
Please read the Referral Criteria and Brief Service information below to ensure that your referral is appropriate. We only accept referrals for East Sussex.
Before making a referral, please check the Carer meets the criteria below:
- Volunteers are not able to support the person with support needs with any moving or handling, assist with medication or push wheelchairs.
- The person with support needs must be able to access the toilet independently, or their continence must be fully managed.
- No other person should be present in the property at the time of the volunteer’s visit.
- Homes with dogs will require a risk assessment to ensure the safety and comfort of both the volunteer and the person with support needs.
- This service is specifically for carers who are unable to leave the person they care for for any substantial amount of time—ideally the three hours around which the service is designed.
- Volunteers can only take the person with support needs out after a thorough introduction period involving sitting sessions, followed by a comprehensive risk assessment that will be reviewed periodically or when circumstances change.
- Volunteers cannot assist with household tasks, though they may make a drink for the person they are sitting with.
